Hi, since there are so many who speaks English and other european languages here, I wonder is there anyone out there who speaks Mandarin or Cantonese? I speak both and also fFujian, another dialect in Chinese.

I tried to translate one of rainings posts from chinese to english using google, and it said it was translated, but it wasn't. It's still in beta though, and it just had simplified chinese, I guess it can't translate any of those other chinese languages.

Wonder woman, basically I was using the Romanized chinese, so google could not really translate it. Like Japanese, Chinese uses characters and they use romanised version to help those from foreign to learn language faster, at least in spoken chinese. So, hope this help

Hi Raining, thanks, I just wish google had come right out and said it couldn't translate it. The onlylanguage google couldn't translate was when German and spanish had those accented characters. Jaws just can't read them for some reason, so I can't type what jaws can't read.

Hey Megan, you are always welcome to learn Chinese. If you can learn and understand the romanise system, it won't be hard. They are quite fixed.

do you know of any good websites or resources where i could start learning? i'm thinking of buying one of those teach-your-self audio guides. Probably pimslur, since i've used them for language-learning in the past.
